  • What's the difference between a wall-mounted and central heat pump?
Wall-mounted (mini-split) doesn't require ducts, it's installed on a wall. Central connects to your home's existing ducts and distributes conditioned air to all rooms. Wall-mounted is ideal if you don't have ducts; central is preferable for homes already equipped.
Does a heat pump really work in Quebec winters?
Yes. Modern 'cold-climate' models work down to −25 °C or even −30 °C. Below that, your backup system (electric baseboards or furnace) takes over automatically.
What capacity (BTU) do I need for my home?
As a general rule in Quebec, count about 25 to 30 BTU per square foot cooled. For a 200 sq ft room, a 6,000 to 9,000 BTU model is enough. To cool a 1,500 sq ft home, a central system of 36,000 to 48,000 BTU. We confirm this calculation during the visit.
Can I buy my heat pump elsewhere and just have you install it?
Usually not, for warranty and rebate eligibility reasons, we provide the equipment and installation as a single package. This is what allows us to guarantee your installation and support you with rebate applications.
  • Ventialtion & Air Exchanger
  • What's the difference between HRV and ERV?
The HRV (heat recovery ventilator) transfers heat from outgoing to incoming air. The ERV (energy recovery ventilator) also transfers humidity. In Quebec, the HRV is generally the best choice except for very airtight homes or those suffering from overly dry winter air.
How often should an air exchanger be maintained?
Filters should be cleaned every 3 months (you can do this yourself). Complete maintenance by a technician (recovery core cleaning, duct check, balancing) is recommended every 2 to 3 years.
My air exchanger is noisy, is that normal?
No, not after a few years. Excessive noise often indicates duct imbalance, dirt buildup in the core, or a motor at end of life. A service call can diagnose the exact cause.
    How long does installation take?
For a replacement (existing equipment), allow half a day. For a new installation with dedicated ducts, plan for 1 to 2 days.
How much does a service call cost?
Fees start at $250 + tax (30 min travel + 30 min on-site). Additional repair work is billed at $115/hour. You always receive an estimate before we proceed with repairs.
  • Maintenence & Service
  • Do you repair all heat pump brands?
Yes. We work on all common brands in Quebec: GREE, Conforto, ACD, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, LG, Samsung, Panasonic, etc. We have the most common parts in stock.
What's your response time for an emergency?
In peak season (heat waves, cold spells), we prioritize complete breakdowns and aim to intervene within 24 to 48 hours. For truly critical emergencies, call directly, we evaluate what can be done.
Is the diagnosis paid even if I don't proceed with repair?
Yes, the standard service call fee applies ($250 + tax for 30 min travel and 30 min on-site). If you decide to proceed with the repair with us, these fees are included in the total invoice.
    Is annual maintenance really necessary?
Yes, for two main reasons: most manufacturer warranties require annual maintenance by a certified technician, and an unmaintained heat pump loses up to 5% efficiency per year, which translates to higher electricity bills.
What if the repair costs more than replacement?
We tell you honestly. For a unit over 12 years old with a repair exceeding 50% of a new one's price, we generally recommend replacement, especially since new models are eligible for LogisVert rebates.
    What brands do you install?
We primarily install GREE and Améristar brands. Both are recognized for their reliability and performance in Quebec winter conditions.
  • Commercial HVAC
  • Do you work as a subcontractor for contractors?
Yes. We are regularly engaged as subcontractors by general contractors for the HVAC portion of their projects. Our RBQ license and $2M liability insurance allow us to work on projects of any size.
Do you offer commercial maintenance contracts?
Yes. We offer custom annual contracts based on number of units, capacity, and number of visits. Quote prepared based on your situation.
What's your turnaround for a commercial quote?
Allow 3 to 5 business days after the technical visit for a standard project. For complex projects (office buildings, new multi-unit), allow up to 10 business days.
Do you install during operating hours?
We adapt. For businesses and restaurants, we often plan installation in the evening, at night, or on closed days to minimize impact on your operations.
