What we offer

Effective ventilation for a healthy home

In Quebec, modern homes are so well insulated they no longer ‘breathe’ naturally. Without a properly sized and well-maintained air exchanger, humidity, CO₂, and pollutants accumulate, hence window condensation and persistent odors.

We install and replace the most efficient HRV and ERV air exchangers on the market and design complete residential ventilation systems adapted to the Quebec climate.

HRV or ERV: which to choose

Pricing by home type

For most Quebec homes, the HRV is the right choice, it recovers up to 80% of heat from outgoing air. The ERV is preferable for very airtight homes (LEED, R-2000) or recurring dry-air problems. We evaluate during the home visit.

Standard HRV

Home 1,200–1,800 sq ft

$2,500 – $3,500

Installed. Heat recovery ventilator for typical Quebec homes.

High-efficiency HRV

Home 1,800–2,800 sq ft

$3,500 – $4,500

Installed. Maximum heat recovery efficiency.

ERV (airtight homes)

LEED, R-2000 construction

$3,800 – $5,000

Installed. Energy recovery, heat + humidity transfer.

Replacement only

Reuses existing ducts

$2,200 – $3,200

No duct modification needed. Half-day install.

When to replace your air exchanger

Five clear signs it's time

Air exchangers don’t last forever, and a failing one quietly raises your energy bills and lowers your indoor air quality. If any of these apply, call us for an assessment:

Installation scenarios

Three ways we install an air
exchanger

Whether you’re building new, replacing an old unit, or doing a major renovation, we adapt to your situation.

New construction
Complete installation with dedicated ducts integrated into the build, typical timeline 1 to 2 days.
Equipment replacement
New exchanger on existing ducts, fast installation in half a day, minimal disruption.
Major renovation
Adapting existing ducts to integrate a new, more efficient model during a larger reno.

FAQ

Frequently asked
questions

  • What's the difference between HRV and ERV?
The HRV (heat recovery ventilator) transfers heat from outgoing to incoming air. The ERV (energy recovery ventilator) also transfers humidity. In Quebec, the HRV is generally the best choice except for very airtight homes or those suffering from overly dry winter air.
How often should an air exchanger be maintained?
Filters should be cleaned every 3 months (you can do this yourself). Complete maintenance by a technician (recovery core cleaning, duct check, balancing) is recommended every 2 to 3 years.
My air exchanger is noisy, is that normal?
No, not after a few years. Excessive noise often indicates duct imbalance, dirt buildup in the core, or a motor at end of life. A service call can diagnose the exact cause.
    How long does installation take?
For a replacement (existing equipment), allow half a day. For a new installation with dedicated ducts, plan for 1 to 2 days.
How much does a service call cost?
Fees start at $250 + tax (30 min travel + 30 min on-site). Additional repair work is billed at $115/hour. You always receive an estimate before we proceed with repairs.
Testimonials

Built on Trust, Backed by Reviews

Real reviews from homeowners across Lanaudière and Montreal’s North Shore.

Great service from the Xalie Climatisation team! They installed my wall heat pump last spring, and honestly, it’s the best decision I’ve made. Clean, fast work, and they take the time to explain how everything works.

We had ventilation problems at home and Xalie Climatisation fixed the situation quickly. Fast, efficient, and very professional service. You can tell they know their craft.

I had them service my central system, and I was really impressed by their professionalism. The technician was super friendly, on time, and gave me lots of good advice to extend my equipment's life.

My central heat pump broke down during a heat wave and Xalie was there the next day. The repair was done quickly and everything has been working perfectly ever since. Reliable, human service.

I work with Xalie Climatisation every year for my AC maintenance. The team is always professional and attentive. It’s a pleasure doing business with a trustworthy local company.
